Nelson Dewey State Park Reservable shelters

There are two reservable shelters at Nelson Dewey State Park, the Dewey Heights Shelter and the Prairie Shelter. The Dewey Heights Shelter contains electricity two fireplaces and is enclosed. The Prairie Shelter has no electricity and is not enclosed. Both shelters are handicap accessible and have grills and picnic tables. There are accessible restrooms available near the shelters.

Reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance. For all reservations, use the Facility Rental Reservation Form (please note this application form does not guarantee your reservation - the property office will notify you when your reservation has been confirmed). Reservations may be made in person, by mail, e-mail or via telephone. If calling in a reservation, be ready to provide the information requested on the form. Vehicle admission stickers are required on all vehicles. For more information, please contact the property office.

Dewey Heights picnic shelter has one fireplace on the outside and one on the inside.  It has lights and electricity.

A new shelter was added in 2010. The Prairie Shelter overlooks the Mississippi River. It is an open shelter and it does not have electricity.
