Lake Kegonsa State Park Trail descriptions

Hiking White Oak nature trail (1.2 miles)

This 1.2-mile trail, with it's stately oaks and diverse habitats, gently winds through the 80-acre white oak woods. The trail follows mildly sloped terrain and takes about one hour to hike. It features 14 stops, each containing interesting information about the woods and the surrounding areas. Pets are not allowed on this trail.

Hiking Prairie trail (1.3 miles)

This 1.3-mile accessible trail has a crushed limestone surface. The prairie plants are spectacular in the summer. This trail is wonderful for prairie enthusiasts and birders.

Hiking Bluebird trail (0.3 miles)

This short grass-surfaced trail winds through prairie and woods and leads to the upper picnic area.

Hiking Oak Knoll trail (0.8 miles)

This short grass-surfaced trail goes through the woods and along a fen.

Hiking Lakeshore trail (0.5 miles)

This paved trail follows the shoreline of the lake from the beach to the boat landing.

Hiking Wetland Boardwalk trail (0.1 miles)

A short walk ending with a wildlife viewing platform. The boardwalk is a great place by the beach to see geese, ducks and other birds.
