Potawatomi State Park Current conditions

Observation Tower Closed: The observation tower at Potawatomi State Park is permanently closed due to significant wood decay. The department is planning for deconstruction of the tower with the intention to remove it as soon as practicable. There are no plans to replace the tower at this time, however other viewing opportunities at the park include the Old Ski Hill Overlook and pull-offs along Shoreline Road. The department is exploring other viewing opportunities as part of the current master planning process.

Hunting is allowed in the park November 15 through January 6. Hunting maps are available online or at the park office.

Visitors are advised to wear brightly-colored clothing when venturing into huntable areas of the park.

The park received 5 inches of snow this week so winter trails are set up.  Ski trails all have been rolled and packed.  No hiking, snowshoeing, bikes, and dogs are allowed on ski trails at any time.
Snowshoeing and hiking is allowed on three separate trails or along the road.  Please pick up a winter map or ask at the office if you need guidance.
Snowmobile trails are closed.

See the DNR Events Calendar for a complete list of events at Potawatomi and other state parks.
