Military Ridge State Trail Current conditions

2018 Construction Notices

The following construction projects will begin in 2018 or are underway, and will impact sections of the Military Ridge State Trail. This website will be updated with project dates when available.

Ridgeway temporary trail section closure: The Dept. of Transportation will be installing a clover leaf intersection on Highway 151 near Cemetery Road, just west of the village of Ridgeway. About 1.6 miles of the Military Ridge State Trail from Main Street in Ridgeway to 0.25 miles west of Cty. Hwy. BB will be closed during construction. Construction dates will be set in 2018. Trail users will need to plan ahead or find alternative routes if traveling between Ridgeway and Dodgeville during this time.

Verona temporary trail section re-routes:

  • A temporary re-route will occur during replacement of two bridges on Cty. Hwy. PB. The Verona Park and Ride will remain open. Construction dates are May 7 through Aug. 17, 2018.
  • The city of Verona is building a new High School and the trail will be temporarily re-routed. Construction started in April, and equipment is actively crossing the trail. Closure/reroute dates for this section will be set for summer 2018.

Mt. Horeb temporary trail section re-route: The trail currently has a minor re-route around the construction of a new building in Mt. Horeb. The re-route will continue through summer 2018. Access to the Mt. Horeb Depot and Trailhead remains open.
