Merrick State Park Current conditions


All trails are open and in good hiking condition.


The South and Island campgrounds have reopened. Some of the campsites in the South Campground remain closed due to muddy conditions. The closed campsites have yellow “Site Closed” signs on the campsite posts. The North and Island Campgrounds are accepting reservations.

Don't move firewood!

Don't move firewood!Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, Wisconsin has restrictions for moving firewood.

Please self-register at the contact station when the park office is closed.

Spiderwort, leafy spurge, wild strawberry, puccoon, butterfly milkweed, slender blue flag iris, purple coneflower, common milkweed, black-eyed susan, bouncing bet, common yarrow, goat’s beard, and saint john’s wort are blooming in the prairies.


The river has started to recede. The boat dock has reemerged from the water. Fishing has been improving with the lower river levels.

Canoe and kayak rentals

Canoe and Kayak rentals are available from the park office, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Rentals are available from the Contact Station; Friday (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.), Saturday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
