Events

See the DNR Events Calendar for a list of events at Merrick and other state parks.

Nature

Spring is finally here. Dutchman britches are blooming. Orioles, bluebirds, snowy egrets and hummingbirds are back. A few stray pelicans can still be seen, as they migrate north. The trees are starting to leaf out.

River

Areas of the park are still closed due to flooding. The Mississippi River is slowly receding. Fishing has been reported to be slow due to the high water. The boat dock will be installed once the river recedes. The South (Lower) boat landing is also close due to flooding.

Canoe and kayak rentals

We are not renting canoe and kayaks at this time due to very high river levels.

More information

If the main park office and contact station are closed, please self-register for campsites and park admission stickers.
