Great River State Trail Current conditions

The trail is open to hiking and biking year-round. 


The Great River State Trail will be open to snowmobiles when the trail is groomed and the local county trails are open. Please contact the following counties to find information on trail conditions and open/close status.

All snowmobiles operating on a Wisconsin snowmobile trail or corridor must display a valid snowmobile trail pass whether registered in Wisconsin or another state. For more information, see the Snowmobile Trail Pass webpage.

More information

A state trail pass is required for bicyclists 16 years and older. Annual passes can be purchased from designated vendors along the trail and at Perrot State Park. Buy your pass before using the trail.
