Governor Nelson State Park Current conditions

Notice: The boat landing piers have been removed due to high water levels on Lake Mendota. Both the beach and pet swim area are under water. There is blue green algae along the shoreline and swimming is not advised at this time.

There is a slow no wake restriction on Lake Mendota. For more information, see the Dane County website [exit DNR].

Some sections of trail may have standing water, but remain open. Please use caution if hiking on the Woodland Trail due to trail erosion.

For updated lake and beach conditions, call the park office at 608-831-3005 or visit the Wisconsin Beach Health website [exit DNR].

More information

The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. There is no camping, hunting or trapping in the park. If the entrance station is closed, please use the self-registration box to buy a state park vehicle admission sticker.
