Hiking

Wisconsin State Park System

Wisconsin's state parks and forests protect the most beautiful parts of the state, offering some of the best trails for exploring the outdoors. Whether hiking for a short distance or a multi-day excursion, hikers can find more than 2,700 miles of trail at Wisconsin state park properties. Hiking is allowed at all properties - search for the property where you would like to hike next:

National Scenic Trails

Wisconsin is one of the only states to have two National Scenic Trails. The Ice Age Trail is located entirely within Wisconsin, winding for over 1,000 miles between Interstate and Potawatomi state parks. The North Country Trail travels through the northwest corner of the state for 200 miles. These premier hiking and backpacking trails pass through several state parks and forests.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is allowed almost anywhere in state park and forest properties. Hiking, snowshoeing and pets are not permitted on cross-country ski trails when the trails are snow-covered. Several properties offer snowshoe rentals during winter.
