Natural history of Horicon

Visitors can learn about the natural history

The Horicon Marsh has a unique and important story to tell. The geologic features of the area, created by our last ice age, were instrumental in providing resources for wildlife and humans alike. The human history of the Horicon Mash is rich with culture and story, however is one of tragedy and restoration. The wildlife present today at the Horicon Marsh is the result of geologic and human activities, including modern-day wildlife management. The following pages will provide you with information on the geology and human history as well as provide you with information on the wildlife of Horicon and the activities conducted by the DNR to manage habitat for our wildlife.
