Wisconsin’s 2014 Impaired Waters List

Six Mile Creek

Every two years, Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act requires states to publish a list of all waters that are not meeting water quality standards. In the 2014 list update, DNR added 192 new waters. A majority of the listing additions were waters that exceed total phosphorus criteria. A significant number of new listings were also based on poor biological condition. U.S. EPA approval of 2014 impaired waters

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fully approved Wisconsin's 2014 Impaired Waters List on June 2, 2015. Provided below are links to the EPA approval documents and a comprehensive alphabetical 2014 Impaired Water List.

Prior to EPA-approval, the 2014 list was vetted by the public during a comment period held from February 4, 2014 to March 6, 2014. Public comments and DNR responses to comments. [PDF]
