State Forest invasive plant management

In 2006 and 2007, the Wisconsin State Forest Invasive Plant Inventory (WisIPI) occurred in the northern state forests. The "IPI" was not a comprehensive property inventory, but rather a focused inventory in places with a high likelihood of invasive introduction – for example, along recreation trails or at campsites.

Based on inventory data, an invasive plant management plan was developed for each northern state forest. The plans determine priorities for invasive plant management, including limiting the introduction and spread, controlling and monitoring. Priorities are organized by short-, mid- and long-term goals for invasive plant management.

Each northern state forest has a completed inventory and associated spatial and tabular data, all available via the Forestry GIS Data system.

Invasive plants are also inventoried on state forests with two other methods, during forest reconnaissance updating and during data collection for Wisconsin’s Continuous Forest Inventory.

The invasive plant management plans are meant to be dynamic documents. The documents will continue to be updated as new data and information becomes available and priorities are modified. "Plan Date" in the table below signifies the most recent update to a property’s plan.
