Quaderer's Creek Wildlife Area

Quaderer's Creek Wildlife Area is a 350-acre (7 owned, 343 easement) property in Barron County consisting of creek, flowage and marsh.

Find it by going south of Barron, 1 mile on Highway 25. Turn west on 12th Avenue and go 1.5 miles. The property is southwest of the intersection of 12th Avenue and 13th Street.

Management Objectives

In the 1970s, there was interest in developing a wildlife flowage when a beaver dam demonstrated the potential held by the property. The flowage was established in 1992 by constructing a roller dam at the site of the old beaver dam. This flowage project was developed to benefit waterfowl, furbearers and shorebirds. Funding for the project was provided by Ducks Unlimited. There is a sign erected to recognize the cooperators instrumental in project implementation by the parking area and boat launch on the north end of the flowage.

The Quaderer's Creek Wildlife Area offers many recreational opportunities:

  • Cross-country skiing (no designated trail);
  • Hiking;
  • Hunting (especially noted for waterfowl);
  • Trapping;
  • Wild edibles/gathering; and
  • Wildlife viewing.
