COVID-19 Update

On Friday, May 1 and at the direction of Gov. Evers, the department reopened state parks, forests and sites within the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway with special conditions. Four State Natural Areas remain closed: Parfrey's Glen, Pewits Nest, Gibraltar Rock and Dells of the Wisconsin River. All Wildlife Areas and Fisheries Areas are open. Washington Coulee Fishery Area includes a class 1 trout stream, forested wetland, emergent wet meadow wetland, and lowland shrub wetland and the waters are classified as "Areas of Special Natural Resource Interest" (ASNRI) and Exceptional Resource Waters (ERW).

Location/Directions

Washington Coulee Fishery Area is located in Trempealeau and Jackson Counties; Ettrick Township (T 20N, R 7W, section 24) and Franklin Township (T 20N, R 6W, section 30).

Objective

Washington Coulee Fishery Area is managed for trout fishing and habitat (instream restoration work), hunting, and trapping.
