Online meeting. 2021 Air Monitoring Network Plan Katie Praedel The public will have an opportunity from May 13 – June 12, 2020 to provide input on the proposed “Wisconsin 2021 Annual Ambient Air Monitoring Network Plan”. Wisconsin is required to submit an annual network plan to EPA that details that the siting and operation of each monitor meets the requirements of 40 CFR Part 58. The plan proposes DNR recommended changes to the ambient monitoring network based on monitor history, population distribution and modifications to federal monitoring requirements. Responses to the plan are gathered through public comments, a public meeting (held on May 27, 2020) and EPA approval. This plan certifies that the state has met all federal ambient air monitoring requirements.Click here for more information.

Online meeting. Proposed State Implementation Plan (SIP) Revision for 2017 Base Year Emissions Inventory for Wisconsin’s 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) Nonattainment Areas Olivia Salmon The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing to submit this state implementation plan (SIP) revision to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as required by the federal Clean Air Act. This SIP requests EPA to approve Wisconsin’s 2017 base year emissions inventory for the partial Manitowoc, partial Sheboygan, Northern Milwaukee/Ozaukee Shoreline and partial Kenosha County areas designated as nonattainment for the 2015 ozone national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS). Consistent with EPA’s requirements, the proposed inventory provides ozone precursor (oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC)) emissions from the aforementioned nonattainment areas for the 2017 base year.

Publishing procedures

2011 Wisconsin Act 167 [exit DNR] went into effect on August 1, 2012. This act requires the DNR to post hearing and permit notices on the department's website, in addition to newspapers. The date of posting on the DNR website now determines when the public comment periods end. If you have any questions about how this affects public comment opportunities, please contact Sheri Stach (608-264-6292).
