MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff is assessing the impact of manure runoff into a ditch in the town of Carlton near Kewaunee. Cleanup is underway by the property owners, Wakker Dairy.

The ditch flows into Sandy Bay Creek near County Road J and Highway 42. The incident was first reported to the DNR on Monday afternoon.

Neighbors in the vicinity of the farm should monitor well water for changes in taste, smell and color. If water changes occur, switch to an alternate water source and contact Sara Fry, DNR Water Supply Specialist, at 920-662-5147.

The DNR will share additional information as it becomes available.
