DNR assessing occupied site near Ice Age Trail in Marathon County

MADISON, Wis. - The Department of Natural Resources is assessing the makeshift bunker occupied by a fugitive arrested by the Marathon County Sheriff's Department on Friday, Aug. 9.

The site is located on state property adjacent to the Ice Age Trail near the town of Ringle. The DNR is also assisting the sheriff's office as needed and is in the process of developing a cleanup plan.

The DNR and local officials recommend the public avoid the area for their safety.
