Temporary fishing season closure on School Section Lake topic of Nov. 13 public meeting

By Southeast Region October 30, 2018

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The proposed temporary closure of the fishing season on School Section Lake in Waukesha County while the dam is repaired is the topic of a public meeting Nov. 13 at the Ottawa Town Hall.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Town Hall, W360 S3337 State Road 67, Dousman.

The lake is currently drawn down about three feet due to dam failure and pending repairs, causing fish to pool in a smaller area. Closing the fishing season would protect fish from over-harvest during the winter fishing season. The proposed fishery closure would start Dec. 1 and run until May 4, 2019, opening day of the 2019 regular fishing season.
