By Central Office December 7, 2017

Contact(s): Kevin Olson, DNR environmental review specialist, 608-266-9955

LADYSMITH, Wis.--The City of Ladysmith has applied for a Safe Drinking Water loan to address deficiencies in its public drinking water system by replacing water mains at locations throughout the city's distribution system.

Because the project does not involve significant adverse environmental effects, the Department of Natural Resources has made a preliminary determination that no further environmental analysis is needed before proceeding with funding the project.

The DNR is soliciting public comments regarding this decision and potential impact of this project. Written or verbal comments are encouraged and should be provided no later than Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, to Kevin Olson, Community Financial Assistance, Department of Natural Resources, CF/2 101 S. Webster St., PO Box 7921, Madison, WI 53707. Mr. Olson can be reached by phone at 608- 266-9955, or email at

Based on the comments received, the department may prepare an environmental analysis before proceeding with the funding process. The analysis would summarize the department's consideration of the impact of the project and reasonable alternatives.
