Village of Chaseburg submits application for Safe Drinking Water loan to address deficiencies in its public water system

By Central Office November 21, 2017

Contact(s): Kevin Olson, DNR environmental review specialist, 608-266-9955

CHASEBURG, Wis.- The Village of Chaseburg has requested funding from the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program to address deficiencies in its public drinking water system. The proposed funding will be used to replace a water reservoir in the village's distribution system near Carriage Drive.

Since such a replacement does not normally involve significant adverse environmental effects, the department has made a preliminary determination that no further environmental analysis is needed to proceed with funding the project.

The department is soliciting public comments regarding this decision and potential impact of the project by Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. Written or verbal comments are encouraged. Provide comments to Kevin Olson, Community Financial Assistance, Department of Natural Resources, CF/2 101 W. Webster St. PO Box 7921, Madison, WI 53707. Mr. Olson can be reached by phone at 608- 266-9955, or email at

Depending upon comments received, the department may prepare an environmental analysis before proceeding with the funding process. The analysis would summarize the department's consideration of the impacts of the project and reasonable alternatives.
