By Southeast Region July 27, 2017

Contact(s): Michelle Hase, DNR Water Management Engineer, 262-574-2127

Oconomowoc, WI - The City of Oconomowoc has applied to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to lower the water level behind the Fowler-Peacock Dam on the Oconomowoc River in the City of Oconomowoc, Waukesha County. This is being done in order to replace stop logs and inspect the structure.

The DNR approved the controlled drawdown, which will begin on September 5, 2017. The impoundment will be lowered approximately four inches per day until the impoundment is drawn down two feet. The impoundment will be brought back to normal levels by September 29, 2017.

The 11-foot high dam is owned and operated by the City of Oconomowoc.
