Yoga at the Beach

Meet near the shelter at Nicolet Beach. Peninsula welcomes past naturalist and current certified yoga instructor Rachel Seltzner. Open to adults and teens ages 16 and older. Greet the morning with gentle yoga stretches. Beginners welcome.

Butterfly Meadow

Nature Center. Enjoy an easy meadow walk featuring flower facts and folklore. Watch for monarchs and other pollinators. Kids can craft a butterfly to keep after the walk.

Special Event: Roosevelt's Tree Army and CCC Campfire

Nature Center. Peninsula is thrilled to welcome teachers from the Ephraim Foundation! Eighty-two years ago 100 young men lived in barracks in Peninsula State Park. They planted trees, cleared poison ivy, built stone walls, and fixed roads. Discover the incredible legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Peninsula State Park! Sing songs of the era, then try cooking "pain perdu" over a hobo stove. Donations appreciated for outdoor cooking supplies.

Meet at Eagle Panorama, the overlook just south of Eagle Tower parking lot. Tree ID and Peninsula geology featured on this naturalist-led walk. Moderate hiking. About a mile.

Let's Meet the Masked Bandit

Naturalist Led Kayak Tour

Time: 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Activities: Canoeing/kayaking, Outdoor activity, Outdoor skills
Location: Peninsula SP

Must pre-register at Nature Center. Limited to fifteen participants. Arrive at Nicolet Beach Rentals by 9:45 a.m. Naturalist-led tour features Peninsula history and ecology. Two-mile paddle along Peninsula's beautiful shore. Beginners welcome. A lifeguard is not on duty. Youth age 17 and younger must be in a kayak with an adult. $24 plus tax per person payable at Nicolet Beach Concessions. Tour may be cancelled due to weather or high winds.

Universe in the Park

Universe in the Park is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news for the whole family. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available. Question and answer period follows around the telescope. Meet at Nicolet Beach.
