Pine Cliff Trail Hike

Join us as we hike varied terrain with great views of Cox Hollow Lake. Learn about the majestic Eastern White Pine-the original Kings of the North. Moderate difficulty. Allow 90 minutes or more for the hike-there will be an option to return early if you wish. Meet at the Enee Point Picnic Shelter.

Join Dick Stephens, a descendant of the Stephens Family (the family who provided the name for Stephens Falls) as he gives you a personalized account of the area around Stephen's Falls - his family's homestead. Hear stories of what it was like to live here before the area became Governor Dodge State Park. Learn the origin of the "Goldmine" name and the workings of their pioneer refrigerator. Meet at the intersection of the Goldmine Trail and Ridge Road (the road to Twin Valley Campground).

Free Fishing Demo with Kate

It's Free Fishing weekend, no license needed. Join Kate from Kate's Bait Shop as she offers tips and tricks for a successful fishing outing. Find out what fish are found in Governor Dodge lakes, the best bait to use to catch them, and how to cast a line. Bait will be provided by Kate. Bring your own fishing pole if you have one - there will limited fishing poles available. Aspiring anglers of all ages are welcome! Meet at the Twin Valley Boat Landing.

Universe in the Park (UitP) is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The UitP session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available. Question and answer period follows around the telescope. Meet at the park amphitheater.
