Mosquito Munchers Drop-in

Buckhorn SP information

Buckhorn State Park is a paradise for water enthusiasts, hunters, hikers, campers and nature lovers. The park and two adjacent state wildlife areas cover more than 8,000-acres on a peninsula in the Castle Rock Flowage of the Wisconsin River and along the connecting Yellow River. Family and group campsites, unique cart-in camping, a cabin for people with disabilities, canoe trail and an accessible fishing pier, are all available at Buckhorn State Park.

Universe in the Park

Time: 8:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Activities: Astronomy, Educational Programs, Night event, Outdoor activity
Location: Buckhorn SP

Universe in the Park is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news for the whole family. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available. Question and answer period follows around the telescope. Meet at the amphitheater and south parking lot.
