Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Time: 8:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Activities: Astronomy, Night event, Outdoor activity
Location: Mirror Lake SP

Have you seen up close what is out in the sky at night? Have you seen the planets through a telescope? Can you find the big dipper? Join us as we look through the telescope and learn about the night sky with Naturalist Sue Johansen Mayoleth. Bug spray is recommended. In the event of cloudy skies or rain, we will play bug and bird bingo. Meet at the Bluewater Bay shelter.

International Wolf Center Presentation

Please join Debbie and Jerry as they discuss the habits and biology of wolves, how they hunt, what they eat, what wild lands they need, and human interactions/impacts. Hike the Echo Rock and Ishnala Trail

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Activities: Geology, Hike, Outdoor activity
Location: Mirror Lake SP

Travel back in time on this 2.4-mile hike to learn how Mirror Lake was formed. Explore the wildflowers, smell the fresh pine trees, walk through the cool Ishnala Gorge. Learn about the human history of the park, who lived in and around the park, before it was a park. Let's see if we can find some cool bugs and creatures and birds as well. If there is light rain, we will still go. If there is heavy rain and/or lightning, we will cancel. Meet at Echo Rock trailhead at the top of the boat landing parking lot.

S'more Fun Trail Run

Time: 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Location: Mirror Lake SP

Join the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park and trail running volunteers for the 4th annual S'more Fun Trail Run. Along with the chip-timed 5K and 10K runs as well as a 1-mile hike that is great for all ages, new this year is the Mini-Marshmallow Mile Trail Run for kids ages 11 and under. Registration is capped at 400 participants. The first run takes off at 9 a.m. Register by September 8 to guarantee your race t-shirt! Online and mail in registration ends September 22, 2019 or until the cap of 400 participants is reached. Packet pick-up and same day registration will be held on Run day from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Parked vehicles require a Wisconsin State Park admission sticker. Event will be held rain or shine, sorry no refunds. All proceeds benefit Mirror Lake State Park. New this year, kids 11 and under can take part in the Mini Marshmallow Mile, an easy run on a 1-mile loop.

Mini Marshmallow Mile

New this year, as part of our S'more Fun Trail Run we are hosting our first official trail run for kids 11 and under! The Mini Marshmallow Mile (MMM) will be run on the Newport Trail which is an easy, 1-mile loop. For the kids that have done the hike in the past, it is the same trail (that they probably ran on their own)! Sign up by September 8 to guarantee a t-shirt and special race prize!

Halloween Mystery Candlelight Hike

Along with the Park Staff, the Friends of Mirror Lake are hosting our annual Halloween Event. We will have an easy 1-mile torch lit trail to hike. Kids of all ages can help us find clues and discover our mystery guest - start at the beach, read the clues and try to identify the Mystery Guest you will see at the Amphitheater. There will also be an activity for the kids at the Amphitheater. The Friends will have food and beverages available for purchase, and everyone can enjoy the roaring bonfire. Meet at the beach area.
