Kayak Tour

Time: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Activities: Canoeing/kayaking, Outdoor activity
Location: Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit

Go through the basics of kayaking and take a short tour around our lake! Limited slots available; reservations are required with a $20 deposit for individuals and $25 per group of any size. Deposits will be refunded following the event. Signup sheet will be posted at the Ottawa Lake Contact Station one week in advance. Must be 10 years or older to participate. Meet at the Ottawa Lake Boat Launch.

Universe in the Park

Time: 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Location: Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit

Universe in the Park (UitP) is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The UitP session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available. Meet at Shelter A at Ottawa Lake around sunset to do some viewing of the night sky with the use of telescopes. Get Directions - Ottawa Lake.

Endurance Challenge Race at Ottawa Lake and the Ice Age Trail

The North Face Endurance Challenge returns to Kettle Moraine State Forest at the Ottawa Lake Campground and Ice Age Trail on Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 15-16. A state park vehicle admission sticker is required by all participants and spectators. This large running event will limit the amount of parking available at the beach, boat launch, and picnic areas at Ottawa Lake. The largest crowds of people will be early in the morning until early afternoon each day.

Fall Color Festival Bike Rides on the John Muir Trails

Join us on Saturday, Sept 29, 2018 for a full day of heart pounding, side aching, gear grinding mountain bike excitement for the entire family. The Fall Color Festival is an annual mountain bike fundraiser held at the John Muir trails in Southeastern Wisconsin. Proceeds support future trail development and trail maintenance. This is your day to give back to the trails and the sport you love. Rides of different lengths for both children and adults are available.
