Candlelight Ski/Hike

Sponsored by Friends of the Kettle Moraine

Cross-country ski or hike in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit by candlelight. At the bonfire join fellow hikers and skiers for hot drinks and snacks provided by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. The trail is perfect for novice skiers with no steep hills or sharp turns. The Zillmer shelter building will be open, lit, and heated. Location: Zillmer Trail Area (located off County Road SS between County Road G and Hwy 67 near New Prospect). Cross-country ski or hike in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit by candlelight. A Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission sticker is required.

Winter Star Gazing

Look through a telescope or binoculars to bring into focus the wonders of the night sky. With the help of knowledgeable night sky observers from the Northern Cross Science Foundation, spy distant planets, dumb-bell nebulas, globular clusters, and so much more. The program will be held only if the skies are clear. This program is best for anyone more than 8 years old. Drop in any time and stay as long as you like. Stories in the Snow: Tracking Exploring Nature Program

Aerial Insectivores of Wisconsin Evening with Nature Program

William Mueller, Director of the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory, will provide a view into the world of "aerial insectivores," the birds that capture their insect prey in flight, by exploring their ecology, population changes, and conservation.
