Kayak Essentials Class

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Activities: Canoeing/kayaking, Outdoor activity, Outdoor skills
Location: Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit

This 4-hour session will provide skills to maneuver your kayak around obstacles, using simple body moves to maximize turns and paddle control. This class is intended for the amateur paddler (one who has paddled a few times in the past) and would like to increase their knowledge and expertise on the water. There will be on shore training before being on the water. Kayaks and paddle gear are available if needed and included in the price; cost is $60. Maximum class size 10. Pre-registration is required and will close 24 hours prior to beginning of class. Register at the Silent Wake website [exit DNR]. A State Park Vehicle Admission Sticker is required. Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.
