Tree ID and Forestry Fun

Location: Copper Falls SP

Join DNR Forest Ecologist Colleen Matula and retired Forester Tom Piikkila to learn more about trees and how to identify them...then join them for a hike along the scenic Doughboys' Trail to test your skills. Meet at the naturalist cabin at 10 a.m. Hike is 1.7 miles (moderate to easy terrain) with some uneven steps. Sorry, no pets please. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Copper Falls SP information

Ancient lava flows, deep gorges, and spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Log buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s add to the park's charm. There is plenty to do; hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through Copper Falls State Park.
