National Public Lands Day

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Activities: Educational Programs, Nature study, Volunteer opportunity, Wildlife study
Location: Flambeau River SF

This is the largest single-day volunteer effort for America's public lands! Come volunteer as little or as much time as you would like at the Flambeau River State Forest on this date. We will be focusing on cleaning up a section of roadway in the forest. This is our first year participating in the event, but we plan to do new projects that will enhance the forest each year. Meet at the Flambeau River State Forest headquarters at 9 a.m. Enjoy some tasty brats grilled by the Flambeau staff at noon after the event. Please call 715-332-5271 EXT 112 to RSVP.

The forest offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Canoeing is the most popular activity on the forest. Different portions of the river offer varying degrees of difficulty. The North Fork is ideal for the novice, while South Fork is for the advanced paddler. Musky, sturgeon, trout, walleye, bass and panfish can be caught from the river as well as the lakes in the forest. The forest is open to public hunting for bear, waterfowl, deer and grouse, just to name a few.
