Trail Day on the Red Cedar State Trail

There will be a number of activities put on by the Friends of Red Cedar State Trail to celebrate National Trails Day. Activities are at the Menomonie Depot Visitor Center located at the trailhead adjacent to Riverside Park, west of downtown Menomonie on Highway 29. All activities are free!
  • Special Event: Snake Discovery.
  • Free fishing at Riverside Park. Poles and lures provided, or bring your own.
  • DNR booth inside the depot.
  • Helmet Safety Demonstration by Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
  • Bike Safety Checks by Simple Sports.
  • Fun arts and crafts activities and Big Bubbles.
  • UW-Stout Equipment Rental Booth.
  • Free cookies and lemonade!
  • Early Bird Special at 9 a.m. - Yoga class in the park.


Red Cedar ST information

This 14.5-mile rail trail shadows the steep walls of the Red Cedar Valley from Menomonie to its connection with the Chippewa River State Trail. Along its route, the trail passes through the communities of Irvington and Downsville and the Dunnville State Wildlife Area. The trail passes by prairies, marshland bottoms, forests and farmlands, including sandstone bluffs and other unique rock formations. In the Dunnville Wildlife Area, the Red Cedar trail connects to the Chippewa River State Trail.
