Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.

Roche-A-Cri SP information

Roche-A-Cri State Park, established in 1948, protects a 300-foot-high rock outcropping and Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. The name "Roche-A-Cri" comes from French words meaning "crevice in the rock." The park has 41 rustic campsites and five miles of hiking trails within a forest of large oaks and pines. Carter Creek in the park offers fishing opportunities.

16th Annual Harvest Moon Festival: A Virtual Event

Each year, The Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area hosts the Harvest Moon Festival, an evening of autumnal fun and food that brings families and friends together to celebrate all that Capital Springs has to offer. This year, the Friends take this annual fall tradition in a new direction to keep everyone healthy and safe.

The 2020 Harvest Moon Festival will be held online and feature entertaining, nature-based, virtual exhibits that include videos, nature crafts and more led by the UW-Madison Arboretum, Hoo's Woods Raptor Center, Uncle Butzie the Turkey Vulture and the International Crane Foundation. Also learn about family hike routes to best see fall colors and bird migration at Capital Springs.

No signup is necessary, and the event is free. Visit the Friends of Capital Springs website [exit DNR] the weekend of October 2-4 to see all the exhibits. This online festival starts on Friday and ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
