Guided Kayak Tour

Go on an adventure at Devil's Lake by kayak! Guides will take you on a 2-hour tour of the lake exploring the geology and lake's wildlife. Space is limited, so you'll need to preregister. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double. To register, please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140. Meet at the Chateau (North Shore Concessions).

Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.

Mirror Lake SP information

This park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so Locationcalm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. The park's 2,200 acres includes several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals, and a cabin for people with disabilities.

All About Owls

Owls are not found just in books and movies. Meet some of the owls that live around us and learn about these magnificent silent hunters. Find out what brings owls to Wildlife of Wisconsin. Jerry Theys, a Manitowoc County rehabilitator, will use a PowerPoint presentation including calls and a skit, and will bring 3 - 4 live owls too. Meet at the Sanderling Nature Center for this family-friendly presentation; children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed.

Whitefish Dunes Annual Summer Candlelight Hike

Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes and Park Staff for the annual Whitefish Dunes State Park summer candlelight hike from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Stroll along part of the Red Trail that will be lit with candlelight luminaries for 0.75 miles and then return back to the Nature Center on the same trail. Popcorn and lemonade at the shelter provided by the Friends Group. If it is clear there will be telescopes set out to view the night sky. Please no pets. Strollers and wagons are not recommended. Event is free but park sticker required.

Whitefish Dunes SP information

Whitefish Dunes State Park protects the fragile dune environment on the eastern Door County Peninsula. Stroll along Lake Michigan, watch waterfowl at Clark Lake, use the boardwalk to discover the wetlands or relax on one of the many trails throughout the forested sand dunes and beech forest. The park's nature center features year-round programs, exhibits and displays on ecology, geology and human history. Whitefish Dunes is a day-use park, there is no camping.

Richard Bong SRA information

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

Starsplitters Astronomy Program

Morning Hike

Enjoy a guided morning hike with park naturalist Reed Cockrell. Meet at the north end of the pool parking lot by the Friends Shelter.

Morning hikes are held most Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Check with the park office to confirm dates and times and to see what topic will be covered.

Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit information

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.

Nature Printing Drop In at the Beach

Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.
