Crex Hunt and Fish Camp

Location: Crex Meadows

This program covers the basics of hunting and fishing and teaching children how to interact with nature using ageless skills. Participants will have the opportunity to practice shooting archery targets and set up deer stands and blinds while participating in hunting scenario activities. They will also get to learn about fishing equipment and spend the last day fishing at Memory Lake Park. We recommend bringing bug spray, close-toed shoes and a water bottle. Pre-registration is required. The class size is limited to 20 students between ages 10 to 15.

Crex Meadows information

Crex Meadows Wildlife Area is a 30,000 acre property of wetlands, brush prairies, and forests scattered across a gently rolling landscape. It is located in western Burnett County. Find it from Highway 70 in Grantsburg. Directional signs will guide you through Grantsburg to the Crex Meadows Wildlife Education and Visitor Center, which is located on County Road D.

Devil's Lake SP information

Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest, and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Explore the Naturalist Cabin

Copper Falls SP information

Ancient lava flows, deep gorges, and spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Log buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s add to the park's charm. There is plenty to do; hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through Copper Falls State Park.

Shakespeare in the Park: Romeo & Juliet

The Summit Players are a traveling theatre company who present short, fun, accessible and free Shakespeare workshops and performances to audiences around the state. This year, join the Players as they perform a mini-version of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. The production is 'Shakespeare out of a trunk,' with minimal set, costumes and props and a focus on actors, as per the style of Shakespeare's time. 7 p.m. performance.

Discovery Bird Walk

Meet Master Naturalists Janet & Andy Raddatz at the Friends Pond parking lot. The walk will start at Friends Pond, then go east on Old Park Rd to the closed gate and then back to the pond while searching for birds along the way. The walk will then continue on the Ancient Shores Trail. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Bring insect repellant, sunscreen, binoculars and field guides if available. The 1.75-mile walk is best for age 8 and older; children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets please. Vehicles need a state park admission sticker.

Nature Time for Preschoolers: Snails and Slugs

Drop in any time between 9 am and 3 pm to discover something new about nature.
