Guided Kayak Tour

Go on an adventure at Devil's Lake by kayak! Guides will take you on a 2-hour tour of the lake exploring the geology and lake's wildlife. Space is limited, so you'll need to preregister. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double. To register, please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140. Meet at the Chateau (North Shore Concessions).

Wolves of Wisconsin: Summer Saturday Evening Event

Wisconsin has been a historic home for gray wolves. With Emily and Larry Scheunemann from Timber Wolf Alliance delve into the amazing lives these astonishing animals lead. Learn how they are recovering after being extirpated from the state and what the next steps will be in sustaining a healthy population of gray wolves in the Great Lakes region. This program is best for people over 8 years old. Location: Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee)

Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Music in the Park: Lou and Peter Berryman

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to enjoy this free family event sponsored by the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park. The summer concert series takes place on several Saturdays during summer at the beautiful Mirror Lake amphitheater. Concerts are free, goodwill donations would be appreciated with all donations directly helping fund park programs and projects. Please arrive early for parking and a short easy hike to the amphitheater. No Pets are allowed in the amphitheater. A Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission sticker is required and can be purchased at the park office.

Mirror Lake SP information

This park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so Locationcalm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. The park's 2,200 acres includes several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals, and a cabin for people with disabilities.

Aldo Leopold Was for the Birds!

Although widely recognized for his book, A Sand County Almanac, and for his contributions to modern conservation, Aldo Leopold was also a life-long birder. A well-worn pair of birding binoculars was often around his neck whenever he was in the field. Leopold not only enjoyed bird watching, he also wrote some of his most poignant essays about birds and their conservation. He faithfully recorded many of his bird observations, providing important historical records that allow us to understand how birds are responding to such environmental factors as climate change. Stan Temple will review Leopold's love of birds and birding and explain why his writings are so important for bird conservation efforts today. Meet at the Northern Lights Amphitheater.

Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit information

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.

Summer Candlelight Hike in the Park

Everyone is invited to attend our annual summer candlelight evening at Kohler-Andrae State Park! Enjoy a self-guided hike along a marked trail illuminated by tiki torches with family and friends. The trail runs along the shoreline and on the cordwalk through the dunes. Park at Sanderling Nature Center Lot P3 or North Beach Lot P2. No pets or strollers allowed on the hike. Snacks and refreshments will be available at the nature center.

Universe in the Park

Universe in the Park (UitP) is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The UitP session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available.

Lake Wissota SP information

This park northeast of Chippewa Falls has more than 1,000 acres of forest and open prairie on a 6,300-acre man-made lake. Lake Wissota State Park offers secluded campsites, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, picnic and playground areas, and a 285-foot swimming beach. Boating, canoeing, kayaking, and water skiing are popular summer activities on Lake Wissota.

Wings Over Weborg

Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline. The rollicking waves that skip towards Peninsula's sky high bluffs are part of the Niagara Escarpment.

Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.

Potawatomi SP information

Potawatomi State Park on the shore of Sturgeon Bay in southern Door County, has 1,200 acres of gently rolling upland terrain bordered by steep slopes and rugged limestone cliffs. The park is named in honor of the tribe that inhabited Green Bay's shores and islands when Europeans first settled the area. The tribe called themselves Bo-De-Wad-Me which means "keeper of the fire." Eventually the spelling and pronunciation were changed to Potawatomi.
