Become a Voyageur!

Paddle a 28-foot canoe! Join us for a truly a hands-on experience in history and camaraderie into the fur trade era and the lives of its most colorful participants - the Voyageurs.You'll get to paddle a Voyageur canoe and learn about the Voyageur way of life.You willstep into the past with Jean Paul Pauquette and Jacques Largillier as your guides. This is a FREE program sponsored by the Friends of Devil's Lake. This program is great for all ages. Activities will happen at the North Shore Boat Launch.

Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest, and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, sandy swimming beaches, 29 miles of hiking trails, or ease into the backcountry solitude. Devil's Lake is a beautiful year-round park with an intriguing natural history along the 1,000-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Playing with Shakespeare: Children's Workshop

The Summit Players are a traveling theatre company who present short, fun, accessible and free Shakespeare workshops and performances to audiences around the state. This year, join the Players as they perform a mini-version of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. The production is 'Shakespeare out of a trunk,' with minimal set, costumes and props and a focus on actors, as per the style of Shakespeare's time. Prior to the performance, company members will lead a 45-minute children's workshop. 5:30 p.m. workshop; 7 p.m. performance. Event is at Three Bridges Park adjacent to the Hank Aaron State Trail.

Hank Aaron ST information

Named in honor of baseball legend Hank Aaron, this trail provides a continuous connection between Milwaukee's Miller Park Stadium and the Lake Michigan lakefront, as well as providing connections to famous Milwaukee landmarks such as the historic Ward Theatre on the grounds of the National Soldiers Home, the Wisconsin State Fair Park and the Pettit National Ice Center. Eventually the trail will connect with the Oak Leaf Trail near the Milwaukee/Waukesha county line and run along the southern edge of the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Saukville Jammers: Join the Jam

Bring your guitar, drums or ukulele and join members of the Saukville Jam, a gathering of local musicians, who will be jamming at Puckett's Pond. Participants can perform a tune of their choice and the rest of the group can play along if desired.

This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.

Gentle Yoga and Bonfire

Join Debbie Leonard at Harrington State Park for gentle yoga near the shore of Lake Michigan. All levels of yogis are welcome. Meet me in the parking lot at the Welcome Center. We'll do practice with a bonfire crackling and our hearts and minds still for this gentle practice. Bring a beach towel/mat, water, bug spray.....anything that can make your practice comfortable and personal.

Universe in the Park

Universe in the Park is a popular outreach program of the UW-Madison Astronomy Department and is predicated on a very simple idea: the best environment in which to introduce the general public to astronomy is outside under dark skies. The UitP session begins with a 20-30 minute talk and slide presentation covering a broad view of astronomy and recent astronomical news. Following the presentation, a telescope is set up to view whatever astronomical objects are available. Question and answer period follows around the telescope. Meet at the Park Shelter near Parking Lot #2.

Potawatomi SP information

Potawatomi State Park on the shore of Sturgeon Bay in southern Door County, has 1,200 acres of gently rolling upland terrain bordered by steep slopes and rugged limestone cliffs. The park is named in honor of the tribe that inhabited Green Bay's shores and islands when Europeans first settled the area. The tribe called themselves Bo-De-Wad-Me which means "keeper of the fire." Eventually the spelling and pronunciation were changed to Potawatomi.

With nearly 3,000 acres of prairie, forests, and panoramic river scenery, Willow River State Park offers year-round recreation opportunities in western Wisconsin. The park is about five miles northeast of Hudson, and has a campground, a boat launch and a 400-foot beach and picnic area centered on 172-acre Little Falls Lake.

Women's Walking and Wellness Program

Spend time in nature, get healthy, and train to walk the Empowered Women's Half-Marathon or 5k (Saturday, September 28) or a Willow River Trail Run--a 6.6k, 10.6k, or half-marathon-(Saturday, October 12). Weekly walking groups begin Saturday, June 8 at 8:30 a.m. at Willow River State Park. In addition to weekly walking groups, monthly programs--including yoga, healthy eating and meal planning, local foods, and other wellness programs--will be offered at the nature center.

This program is funded by an Allina Neighborhood Health Connection Grant to Gateway Arts and Wellness and is available to up to 10 community members, free of charge. Participants must commit to participate in at least 10 of the 20 sessions, which run Saturdays June 8 - October 19, 2019. Most sessions run from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Perrot SP information

Perrot State Park, where the Trempealeau River meets the Mississippi River, offers breathtaking views from 500-foot bluffs. The river bank and surrounding wetlands provide wonderful habitat for the many migratory birds that travel through this area twice a year. Unique to southwestern Wisconsin and Perrot are the goat prairies perched high on the bluffs.

Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.

Jackson Marsh Wildlife Area information

Jackson Marsh Wildlife Area is a 2,312 acre property located in eastern Washington County north of Hwy 60. Find it from the intersection of Highways 45 and Highway 60 near the Village of Jackson, go east on Highway 60 three miles, then north on County Highway G which bisects the Wildlife Area. The property is comprised mostly of forested wetland surrounded by grasslands, croplands, scattered ponds and wetlands, feeder streams, and small woodlots.
