MacKenzie Center 4-Day Outdoor Skills Camp (registration required)

Location: MacKenzie Center

During this 4-day camp for 4th-6th graders, kids will have the chance to learn and participate in many outdoor activities, including archery, fishing, woodcutting, fire-building, shelter building, camping, and more! The week will be capped off with a trip to Devil's Lake where campers will be able to go hiking, swimming, and canoeing! Cost of the 4-day camp is $100. MacKenzie Center information

The MacKenzie Center, just 25 miles north of Madison, is one of the most diverse education centers in Wisconsin. With interpretive trails, exhibits, museums and programming available for school and youth groups, MacKenzie is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the natural world. The State Game Farm is connected to the MacKenzie Center and is adjacent to the arboretum on the western half of the property.

Discovery Bird Hike

Master naturalist Andy Raddatz will lead a discovery bird hike at Kohler-Andrae. Meet Andy at the closed gate just west of the camp host sites to walk to the Friends Pond for a hike around the Ancient Shores Trail to search for birds in the park. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Bring insect repellant, sunscreen, binoculars and field guides if available. This 1.75-mile hike lasts about 2 hours and is best for ages 8 and older; children must be accompanied by an adult. Please no dogs on this hike. All vehicles will need a state park admission sticker.

Meet the Pileated Woodpecker - Drop In

Whitefish Dunes SP information

Whitefish Dunes State Park protects the fragile dune environment on the eastern Door County Peninsula. Stroll along Lake Michigan, watch waterfowl at Clark Lake, use the boardwalk to discover the wetlands or relax on one of the many trails throughout the forested sand dunes and beech forest. The park's nature center features year-round programs, exhibits and displays on ecology, geology and human history. Whitefish Dunes is a day-use park, there is no camping.

Horicon Marsh Education Center information

Horicon Marsh has been formally recognized as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention of the United Nations. This renowned marsh is now home to the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. The Wildlife Education Program has been conducted at the marsh since the mid-1980s. This program focuses on the abundant wildlife resources of the marsh, their ecology and applied management.

High-Tech Bat Hike
