Free Fun Weekend in Wisconsin: No state park admission stickers or trail passes are required June 1-2, 2019. It is also Free Fishing Weekend when people may fish without fishing licenses or state trout stamps. Non-resident all-terrain vehicle operators do not need a non-resident trail pass to ride state ATV trails this weekend.

Saturday, June 1 is also National Trails Day. Find more trail events across Wisconsin and the country on the National Trails Day website [exit DNR].

Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit information

The Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest is in the middle of the Kettle Moraine, a strip of glacial landforms which extends through southeastern Wisconsin to Lake Winnebago. The forest is named after the 522-acre, spring-fed kettle: Pike Lake. Powder Hill, a large glacial kame, provides the opportunity for a great hike and view. Visitors can enjoy camping, swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and much more within the forest.

Ozaukee County Fishing Clinic

Harrington Beach SP information

Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan. This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.

Free Kids Fishing Clinic

Free Fishing Clinic

600-Gallon Native Fish Tank

Something "fishy" is going on at the Peninsula State Park Nature Center this Saturday and Sunday, June 1 & 2. The Department of Natural Resources 600-gallon tank has arrived, stocked with native fish like smallmouth bass and bullheads. The public can view the tank from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The White Cedar Nature Center is located in the park on Bluff Road. Optional "fin-tastic" activities for families are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and include Gyotaku-Fish Printing on banners, learning to cast with a rod and reel, and fish dissection. All programs are free and open to the public. A state park sticker is not required at Peninsula or any other Wisconsin state park on June 1 & 2 and part of state parks open house days. Perrot SP information

Perrot State Park, where the Trempealeau River meets the Mississippi River, offers breathtaking views from 500-foot bluffs. The river bank and surrounding wetlands provide wonderful habitat for the many migratory birds that travel through this area twice a year. Unique to southwestern Wisconsin and Perrot are the goat prairies perched high on the bluffs.

Interpretive Kiosk Dedication

Come see the park's brand-new historical kiosk. The dedication ceremony features speakers to highlight the park's history; program starts at 1 p.m. Meet at the pavilion. After the presentation hike the Doughboys' trail to view the park's spectacular waterfalls or drop by the Naturalist Cabin to explore Northwoods pelts, tracks, pollywogs, and more family fun with Park Naturalist Diane Daulton. Children should be accompanied by an adult; sorry, no pets please. The Naturalist Cabin is located south of the main parking lot.

Copper Falls SP information

Ancient lava flows, deep gorges, and spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Log buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s add to the park's charm. There is plenty to do; hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through Copper Falls State Park.

Richard Bong SRA information

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit information

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.
