Guided Kayak Tour

Want a new way to explore Devil's Lake? Take a guided kayak tour! As we paddle, we'll look for wildlife and check out some of the park's geology and history too. There is a limited amount of space, so we ask you to preregister and prepay prior to the event. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double. The kayak tours will start at the Chateau (North Shore Concessions). To register, please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140.

Night Fliers: Bats

Bats are often shrouded in mystery and misunderstandings. Join Barbara and Ken Bowman of the Bat Conservation of Wisconsin as they unravel the mysteries and share fascinating facts about these night-time flying mammals and the hazards they face. You may get to meet a live bat up close. This program is best for people over 8 years old. Sponsored by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

High-Tech Bat Hike

Our bat hikes have gone high-tech! Join us for a stroll by the lake to find bats. We'll use special hand-held devices that will record the bats' calls and amplify them so we can hear them. These observations will go back to the Wisconsin Bat Program to help them in their bat research. Meet at the Nature Center.

Starsplitters Astronomy Program

We start with an hour presentation, and when the weather is good, we end with time outside enjoying the night sky, viewing the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae through our telescopes.

America's Fire Fighting Bear to Visit Peninsula State Park

Smokey stops by the Nature Center and kids will hear the true story of Smokey from the park naturalist, just before he arrives. Those who can recite - ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT WILD FIRES - will receive Smokey Bear prizes (while supplies last). While you're at the Nature Center, why not hike the half-mile, family friendly trail, featuring new deer ecology signs funded by Whitetails Unlimited. Peninsula programs are free and open to the public but a state park vehicle sticker is required.

Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline. The rollicking waves that skip towards Peninsula's sky high bluffs are part of the Niagara Escarpment.

High Cliff SP information

High Cliff State Park is the only state-owned recreational area on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest lake. The park gets its name from the limestone cliff of the Niagara Escarpment, which parallels the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago. The magnificent 12-foot statue of Winnebago Indian Chief Red Bird, standing high on a huge granite rock, overlooks the lake and is a popular destination in the park.
