Camp Table Toppers Drop in at the Nature Center

Location: Peninsula SP

Make-it, take-it art activity takes about 20 minutes. Choose from a variety of projects: votives decorated with old nature slides, birch bark and bling; silk flowers and birch bark loops; or, tiny baskets decorated with teeny pine cones. Table Topper activities FREE but donations appreciated. While supplies last. All natural items were found "dead and down" - no living things have been disturbed for this project.

Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline. The rollicking waves that skip towards Peninsula's sky high bluffs are part of the Niagara Escarpment.

Birds of a Feather Drop In at the Beach

Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Spring Flora and Fauna Hike

Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring" DVD Presentation

Celebrating the birthday of Rachel Louise Carson (May 27, 1907 - April 14, 1964). She was an American biologist, author, and conservationist whose book Silent Spring and other writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement. Although Silent Spring was met with fierce opposition by chemical companies, it spurred a reversal in national pesticide policy, which led to a nationwide ban on DDT and other pesticides. It also inspired a grassroots environmental movement that led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In the Nature Center, Lot 1.

Let's Meet the Pileated Woodpecker

The Eagles of Eagle Peak

Richard Bong SRA information

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

Guided Kayak Tour

Want a new way to explore Devil's Lake? Take a guided kayak tour! As we paddle, we'll look for wildlife and check out some of the park's geology and history too. There is a limited amount of space, so we ask you to preregister and prepay prior to the event. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double. The kayak tours will start at the Chateau (North Shore Concessions). All About Owls

Jerry Theys from WOW, a Manitowoc area rehabilitator, will use a PowerPoint presentation including calls and a skit, and will bring 3 - 4 live owls too. Meet at Sanderling Nature Center for this family-friendly presentation. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed.

High-Tech Bat Hike

Our bat hikes have gone high-tech! Join us for a stroll by the lake to find bats. We'll use special hand-held devices that will record the bats' calls and amplify them so we can hear them.
