Earth Week Litter Pick Up Sponsored by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine

Help give the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and other forest locations a spring cleaning. Join others for a morning of camaraderie and litter pick up. Youth and other groups are encouraged to participate. Bring your own gloves. Garbage bags will be provided. Meet at the Forest Headquarters off County Road G to get your road assignment. After cleaning up, return to the Headquarters for snacks and refreshments. To register groups, call (262) 626-2116. Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Work Play Earth Day - Celebrate EARTH DAY by volunteering at your State Parks!

Calling all volunteers! Celebrate Earth Day by lending a hand at getting the park ready for another busy season. All ages and skill levels are welcome; your willing heart and hands are all that is required. Bring work gloves, lopping shears, pruners, hand saws or whatever else you may want to bring. Lunch will be provided. Meet at the park maintenance shop.

Newport State Park, northeast of Ellison Bay, is Wisconsin's only formally-designated wilderness park. With 2,373 acres and 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, the park offers quiet alternatives to bustling Door County. Explore 30 miles of hiking trails with hike-in campsites. There are evergreen and hardwood forests, wetlands and upland meadows.

Work Play Earth Day - Celebrate EARTH DAY by volunteering at your State Parks!

Point Beach State Forest will be participating in the state-wide event with support from the Friends of Point Beach State Forest. Volunteers are being sought to clear brush from roadways  campsites, clear sand from trails and parking lots pick up litter and possibly invasive species control. Volunteers should wear work shoes/boots, long pants, gloves and bring shovels, rakes if they have them. Individual and group efforts are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please meet at the Lodge Building for group assignments. Noon refreshments will be provided. Park admission is free for those volunteering. Pre-registration is not required for individuals; however, we would appreciate having large groups contact us prior to April 18. Point Beach SF information

Point Beach State Forest features 3,000 acres of land and six miles of sandy beach along the shores of Lake Michigan. Point Beach offers family campsites, two large group cabins and an outdoor group camp. A popular feature within the property is the Rawley Point Lighthouse, which has been operated and maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard since 1853.

Work Play Earth Day - Celebrate EARTH DAY by volunteering at your State Parks!

In coordination with the Milwaukee Riverkeeper, there will be 8 sites along the Hank Aaron State Trail (HAST) that volunteers can choose from. Cleanup events will occur from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is recommended but not required for the HAST.

Hank Aaron ST information

Named in honor of baseball legend Hank Aaron, this trail provides a continuous connection between Milwaukee's Miller Park Stadium and the Lake Michigan lakefront, as well as providing connections to famous Milwaukee landmarks such as the historic Ward Theatre on the grounds of the National Soldiers Home, the Wisconsin State Fair Park and the Pettit National Ice Center. Eventually the trail will connect with the Oak Leaf Trail near the Milwaukee/Waukesha county line and run along the southern edge of the Milwaukee County Zoo.

Volunteers are being sought to plant trees, clear brush from roadways & campsites, clear gravel from roads and parking lots and pick up litter. Volunteers should wear work shoes/boots, long pants, gloves and bring shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows if they have them. Individual and group efforts are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please meet at the Ansay Welcome Center for group assignments. Noon refreshments will be provided. Park admission is free for those volunteering. Pre-registration is not required for individuals; however, we would appreciate having large groups contact us prior to April 18. Harrington Beach SP information

Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan. This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.

Join the Friends of High Cliff at the Gathering Space for our annual park clean up day. Park admission is free for registered event volunteers. Lightweight vinyl gloves and garbage bags will be available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves. The Friends of High Cliff will provide lunch for volunteers after the event. Groups, families and individuals are encouraged to participate. Groups of 6 or more are asked to pre-register by calling the Park office at 920-989-1106.

High Cliff SP information

High Cliff State Park is the only state-owned recreational area on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest lake. The park gets its name from the limestone cliff of the Niagara Escarpment, which parallels the eastern shore of Lake Winnebago. The magnificent 12-foot statue of Winnebago Indian Chief Red Bird, standing high on a huge granite rock, overlooks the lake and is a popular destination in the park.

Interstate Park is looking for volunteers to participate in a state-wide event celebrating Earth Day. Volunteers are needed to help build picnic tables, stain boards, and clean up our picnic areas. Volunteers should wear work boots, long pants and gloves. A state park admission sticker is not required for volunteers. Meet at the Beach Picnic Shelter. After volunteering, explore the Outdoor Skills Expo at the park from noon to 4 p.m.

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.

Stower Seven Lakes ST information

Built on a former railroad corridor, this 14-mile trail begins in Amery at Harriman Avenue, travels through the communities of Deronda, Wanderoos and Nye, ending about one mile from Dresser at 90th Avenue. The trail passes through maple and oak forests, wetlands, prairies and farmlands, and past many picturesque lakes. The trail crosses between the North Twin and South Twin lakes in Amery, skirts the south end of Bear Trap Lake, the north end of Kinney lake, and runs along Dwight, Horse and Lotus lakes near the western end.

Whitefish Dunes SP information

Whitefish Dunes State Park protects the fragile dune environment on the eastern Door County Peninsula. Stroll along Lake Michigan, watch waterfowl at Clark Lake, use the boardwalk to discover the wetlands or relax on one of the many trails throughout the forested sand dunes and beech forest. The park's nature center features year-round programs, exhibits and displays on ecology, geology and human history. Whitefish Dunes is a day-use park, there is no camping.

Wildcat Mountain State park in partnership with the Friends of Wildcat Mountain State Park will be participating in the annual Work Play Earth Day event. Volunteers are needed for a number of projects which may include general spring clean-up, picnic table painting and repair, and assisting with several ongoing projects. Individuals, families, and groups are all welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the park Maintenance Shop for assignments and instructions. On a steep ridge overlooking the scenic Kickapoo River Valley, Wildcat Mountain State Park offers hiking trails with spectacular views and camping for families, groups and horseback riders. Canoe the Kickapoo River in your own canoe or rent one in Ontario.
