Horicon Marsh Education Center information

Horicon Marsh has been formally recognized as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention of the United Nations. This renowned marsh is now home to the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. The Wildlife Education Program has been conducted at the marsh since the mid-1980s. This program focuses on the abundant wildlife resources of the marsh, their ecology and applied management.

Chick-a-dee-dee-dee Nature Storytime

Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Winter Luminary Walk at The Hill

Heritage Hill State Park comes alive after dark with luminaries abound, living history, and tasty hot beverages and edible delights. The beauty of Northeast Wisconsin's history await as you stroll through the crisp night experiencing the breathtaking ambiance throughout a 1.5-mile pathway, that spans over 56 acres...the hidden gem that awaits you right within the Green Bay city limits. Take advantage of a visit to "The Hill" illuminated at night, with access into many of our historic buildings.

Heritage Hill SP information

Experience "living history" at this 48-acre, outdoor museum in Green Bay. The park features 25 structures from Wisconsin's past - the fur trade in 1762, Fort Howard in 1836, small towns in 1871, and ethnic farms in 1905.

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

MacKenzie Center information

The MacKenzie Center, just 25 miles north of Madison, is one of the most diverse education centers in Wisconsin. With interpretive trails, exhibits, museums and programming available for school and youth groups, MacKenzie is a wonderful place to visit and learn about the natural world. The State Game Farm is connected to the MacKenzie Center and is adjacent to the arboretum on the western half of the property.

Sign up to learn how to make your own holiday wreath, and enjoy a warm fire and hot cider in the DJ Mackie Picnic Area. You must preregister and prepay ($15) at the Forest Headquarters-262-594-6200 prior to the class.

All supplies required will be provided, including a reusable frame. We will have ribbon available, but feel free to bring your own (3-in wide "wired" ribbon).

Meet at the DJ Mackie Picnic Area - located on Hwy ZZ, about 1 mile east of Hwy 67, just east of the Scuppernong Hiking Trails.

Kettle Moraine SF - Southern Unit information

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.

Christmas Nature Crafts

Willow River SP information

With nearly 3,000 acres of prairie, forests, and panoramic river scenery, Willow River State Park offers year-round recreation opportunities in western Wisconsin. The park is about five miles northeast of Hudson, and has a campground, a boat launch and a 400-foot beach and picnic area centered on 172-acre Little Falls Lake.

Full Moon Hike

Even if won't be quite a full moon, it's always a great time to hike in the moonlight at Devil's Lake! We'll hike the closed campgrounds, which provides a flat, even "trail," while minimal hills to walk up (and back down!) The hike will be between 1 1/2 to 2 miles in length. Please leave your dogs at home for this hike. This program is best for kids 7 and older and adults, but open to "kids" of all ages. Meet at North Shore Visitor Center.

Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest, and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, sandy swimming beaches, 29 miles of hiking trails, or ease into the backcountry solitude. Devil's Lake is a beautiful year-round park with an intriguing natural history along the 1,000-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail.

Scuppernong Springs Hike/Snowshoe

Enjoy rolling hills and spring water streams on a hike/snowshoe through Scuppernong Springs. With enough snow, we will break out the snowshoes - we are providing a limited number of snowshoes free to use. Children's sizes are included. This 1.5-mile trail has moderate hills. Meet at the Scuppernong Springs parking lot at S59 W36630 Cty Rd ZZ, Dousman 53118. State Park Sticker required.

That Tree - An Unintended Adventure: An Evening with Nature

While recovering from a near fatal car accident, Mark Hirsch, author, became motivated to embark on a unique adventure. He took a photo a day of a lone bur oak tree in a Wisconsin cornfield. Find out how spending time with "That Tree" provided him with a transformative and therapeutic journey of self-discovery, inspiration, and enlightenment. This program is most appropriate for people over the age of 10 years. Location: Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee)

Hikin' With Your Hound

Enjoy a crisp late fall walk with the naturalist and your pup! We'll hike the East Bluff Woods Trail while exploring nature and giving your dogs a chance to get out and about in nature too. If you don't have a dog, you are welcome to join us. The hike will be about 2 - 2.5 miles in length. There are no stairs on this trail, but we will be walking up hill. This hike is best for adults and teenage children.
