Animal Tracks and Signs

Meet at Nature Center. Walk or snowshoe (weather permitting, provide your own snowshoes) Hidden Bluff Trail. Learn about the pileated woodpecker, turkeys and more while strolling along the base of a low bluff. Easy walking, about 0.5 miles.

Peninsula SP information

Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula offers 468 campsites, three group camps, a summer theater, an 18-hole golf course, sand beach, bike trails, a lighthouse and eight miles of Door County shoreline. The rollicking waves that skip towards Peninsula's sky high bluffs are part of the Niagara Escarpment.

Fun with Feathers!

Willow River SP information

With nearly 3,000 acres of prairie, forests, and panoramic river scenery, Willow River State Park offers year-round recreation opportunities in western Wisconsin. The park is about five miles northeast of Hudson, and has a campground, a boat launch and a 400-foot beach and picnic area centered on 172-acre Little Falls Lake.

Horicon Marsh Education Center information

Horicon Marsh has been formally recognized as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention of the United Nations. This renowned marsh is now home to the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. The Wildlife Education Program has been conducted at the marsh since the mid-1980s. This program focuses on the abundant wildlife resources of the marsh, their ecology and applied management.

24th Annual Riverview Loppet Ski Races

The River View Loppet ski races for youth and adults in the skate and classic styles, will be held at Afterhours Ski Trails. This event is sponsored jointly by the Brule Valley Ski Club, the Brule River State Forest, and the Brule Lions Club. This is a very important fund raiser for the Club, for most of the money raised goes to support the Brule River State Forest with helping fund a wide range of things, including providing additional trail miles, and purchasing grooming equipment. There will be a 3.5k Family Fun Tour, a Classic 12k and 24k race, and 12k and 24k freestyle race. Interested persons can register by going to the Brule Valley Ski Club website. The first race starts at 11 a.m. Check out the Ski Club's website for more information and a registration form.

Family Nature Hike: Animal Signs Hike

Harrington Beach SP information

Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan. This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.

Blue Mound Candlelight Ski, Hike and Snowshoe

This event has been cancelled. Forecasted warming temperatures are expected to deteriorate the trails by the weekend.

Welcome in the New Year by joining us for our annual winter candlelight ski, hike and snowshoe event sponsored by the Friends of Blue Mound State Park. Free hot chocolate, hot cider and marshmallows will be provided. A 1 or 2 mile loop for skiing will be lit with hundreds or glowing luminaries, and a 3/4 mile snowshoe or hike trail. Warm up inside the heated "Friends Shelter" or around the bonfire. Naturalist hikes will be at 6 & 7 p.m. There is no fee for this event, but a valid park admission sticker is required. Sorry, no pets, hiking or snowshoeing are allowed on groomed ski trails. This event is weather and snow conditions permitting.

Perched atop the highest point in southern Wisconsin, Blue Mound State Park offers spectacular views and unique geological features. A swimming pool is available in during summer. Over 20 miles of scenic hiking, off-road biking, and cross-country ski trails, as well as a family campground, access to the Military Ridge State Trail with bike-in campsites, and a rustic cabin for people with disabilities make Blue Mound a popular destination year-round.

Candlelight Ski, Hike, and Snowshoe

Mirror Lake SP information

This park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so Locationcalm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. The park's 2,200 acres includes several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals, and a cabin for people with disabilities.
