Lake Wissota SP information

This park northeast of Chippewa Falls has more than 1,000 acres of forest and open prairie on a 6,300-acre man-made lake. Lake Wissota State Park offers secluded campsites, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, picnic and playground areas, and a 285-foot swimming beach. Boating, canoeing, kayaking, and water skiing are popular summer activities on Lake Wissota.

Luminary Walk

Experience "living history" at this 48-acre, outdoor museum in Green Bay. The park features 25 structures from Wisconsin's past - the fur trade in 1762, Fort Howard in 1836, small towns in 1871, and ethnic farms in 1905.

Candlelight Hike

Location: Horicon Marsh Education Center

Hiking by candlelight, a roaring bonfire, roasted marshmallows and warm refreshments await everyone at the 9th annual Horicon Marsh Candlelight Hike. There are two trails available. One trail is 1.5 miles and another "Family Loop" is only 0.36 miles. The Education Center will be open for people to warm up, view the 20 minute "Horicon Marsh Story." The Northern Cross Science Foundation astronomers will be on site to help you view the night sky through telescopes or to talk about the stars if it is cloudy. Friends of Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center will line the trails with candle-powered luminaries to welcome and guide hikers. Admission to the event is free; however, please consider bringing a non-perishable food item or hats/gloves/mittens for our food drive and mitten campaign. Parking is limited at the education center so please consider using the shuttles. Free shuttles will be available from Mayville and Horicon from 4:30-9:30pm. The Mayville Shuttle will be located at Theiler Park, N8282 County Road TW, Mayville. The Horicon Shuttle will be located in the Bethesda parking lot at 620 Washington St, Horicon. Horicon Marsh Education Center information

Horicon Marsh has been formally recognized as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention of the United Nations. This renowned marsh is now home to the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. The Wildlife Education Program has been conducted at the marsh since the mid-1980s. This program focuses on the abundant wildlife resources of the marsh, their ecology and applied management.

Rib Mountain SP information

This billion-year-old hill is one of the oldest geological formations on earth. Rib Mountain State Park is a premier day-use facility with picnicking, hiking trails and a reservable amphitheater. The top of the 60-foot observation tower offers spectacular views of the Wausau area and Wisconsin River. Granite Peak Ski Area is on the north face of the mountain and offers downhill skiing and snowboarding during winter.

Ski, hike, or snowshoe a trail lit with glowing candlelight. Warm up by the bonfire after enjoying the trail. Snacks and hot beverages will be available for purchase. Weather and snow conditions determine trail location. Sponsored by the Friends of Governor Dodge. Sorry, no pets please. Park admission stickers required. The new 2019 annual stickers will be available for purchase at the park.

Governor Dodge State Park is one of the state's largest parks, with 5,350 acres of steep hills, bluffs, and deep valleys plus two lakes and a waterfall. Ski or hike the 1.6 mile purple loop through the woods that will be illuminated by 450 candles! Bonfire and charcoal will be available if you would like to roast marshmallows or cookout. Leashed dogs are allowed on ski trail-at this event only. State Park Stickers and day passes will be available for purchase when you arrive. No skate skiing and No skijoring. The Nordic Trail is located on Hwy H - 4 miles south of Palmyra and 1.5 miles north of LaGrange.

More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit, making this a popular area for a wide variety of visitors. The Forest is 30 miles long, extending from the village of Dousman, almost to the city of Whitewater. The forest headquarters is 3 miles west of the village of Eagle on State Highway 59.

Enjoy the quiet and solitude of the Kinnickinnic River Valley and the many popular water-based recreational pursuits on the St. Croix River. Mirror Lake SP information

This park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so Locationcalm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach, and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. The park's 2,200 acres includes several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals, and a cabin for people with disabilities.

Viewing of the lunar eclipse at the Observatory at Puckett's Pond

Volunteers from the Northern Cross Science Foundation will open the Observatory for viewing of the lunar eclipse. Only visitors to this event may remain in the park after the usual closing time of 11 p.m. It will be cancelled if the sky is overcast.  State park vehicle admission is required, so those without a 2019 annual sticker must self register at the entrance station.

Harrington Beach SP information

Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan. This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.
