Detailed information: The Waste and Materials Management Study Group project partners and department staff will discuss placing dredged sediment from the Howards Bay Remediation Project on the final cover of the closed Wisconsin Point Landfill, License #12. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment and answer questions on the proposal. There will be a brief introduction and explanation of the project by DNR and City of Superior representatives. The meeting will then be opened up for questions and comments. All public comments received during the meeting will be considered by DNR in its decision. Detailed information: The Butte des Morts Conservation Club, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Winnebago County Land and Water Conservation Department will hold two public meetings in March regarding proposed habitat restoration efforts at Samers Bay and Terrell Island on Lake Butte des Morts. The main objectives of the proposed restoration efforts include creating better water quality and increasing vegetation growth to provide critical fish and wildlife habitat. The proposed Samers Bay project would include installing an off-shore breakwall in Samers Bay on Lake Butte des Morts. The proposed Terrell Island project would include creating a substantial 2,200-foot opening on the east side of the Terrell Island breakwall. The first meeting will be held March 11 at the Omro Town Hall.
