Preliminary public hearing on Statement of Scope FH-02-20 to revise rules relating to Lake Michigan whitefish management and Great Lakes harvest reporting

Detailed information: This is a Statement of Scope for a proposed permanent rule. The rule would address quotas and other harvest management regulations for lake whitefish in Lake Michigan, and would also standardize commercial harvest reporting requirements for both Lake Michigan (including Green Bay) and Lake Superior. The public has the opportunity to testify at the hearing. Registration will take place at the hearing by completing a Hearing Appearance form. Comments on the proposed rule must be received on or before June 16, 2020.  This preliminary public hearing will be held virtually (Online: Skype link, call-in: 1-866-715-6499, passcode 8891162791#). Detailed information: On July 1, 2019, the Department of Natural Resources issued a Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit, No. WI-0061794-04-0, to B&D Dairy Farm, LLC. The permit was issued to regulate the discharge from a livestock operation located at (Main Farm) W7251 E. 6th Road, Pound, (Heifer Facility) W7276 E. 6th Road, Pound, (Little River Satellite WSF) 7651 Hillcrest Road, Oconto, which would discharge into Little Peshtigo River, Lower Peshtigo River, Little River, Middle Peshtigo River and Thunder River Watersheds, Lake Michigan Basin in accordance with the effluent limitations, monitoring requirements, and other conditions on the management and utilization of manure and process wastewater specified in the permit. On July 26, 2019, the B&D Dairy Farm, LLC, filed a Petition for a Contested Case Hearing with the DNR to review the decision to reissue the WPDES permit to B&D Dairy Farm, LLC, pursuant to Wis. Stat. 283.63.
