First Day Hike

431 days old

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Activities: First Day Hike, Hike, Outdoor activity, Snowshoeing
Location: Newport SP

If getting more exercise is one of your 2020 resolutions, then join us for a New Year's Day hike at Newport State Park! We will be hiking on the Fern Trail where snowshoes are permitted, so you may want to bring a pair if the snow is deep. Poles and/or walking sticks are encouraged.

After the hike, please plan on joining us for cider and hot chocolate in the Nature Center, Lot 1. A 2020 vehicle admission sticker is needed and can be purchased at the park office. The hike may be cancelled if weather is severe. Sponsored by the Newport Wilderness Society.

With 2,373 acres and 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, the park offers quiet alternatives to bustling Door County. Explore 30 miles of hiking trails with hike-in campsites.
