Make a Mussel

Is it a clam? It is called a freshwater mussel. Do they make pearls? Can you eat it? Learn about this unique animal that lives in the river. Nearly 300 species of mussels inhabit the freshwater rivers, streams, and lakes of North America. Many of them call the Mississippi home. Meet near the Peterson Shelter Concession Stand.

Wyalusing SP information

At Wyalusing State Park, camp 500 feet above the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers. One of Wisconsin's oldest state parks, Wyalusing features family and group camps, hiking trails, a canoe trail, Native American burial mounds, bird watching, fishing, boating, bicycling, and picnicking near several scenic overlooks of the river valleys below.
