Guided Naturalist Hike

101 days old

Time: 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Activities: Hike, History, Nature study, Outdoor activity
Location: Rock Island SP

Join the Rock Island assistant naturalist for a casual hike, delving into the flora, fauna, fungi and histories of this beautiful island. We'll look into everything from Rock Island's unique ecology to the lives of those who've called this island home. Meet in front of the boathouse.  Bring water and whatever snacks you need for a 45-minute hike. Hikes will take place at two times today -- 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.  (you can also request a walk at the contact station outside of these times).

Rock Island SP information

This primitive island off the tip of the Door County Peninsula and northeast of Washington Island in Lake Michigan offers hiking trails, the oldest lighthouse in Wisconsin and 2000 feet of beach. Vehicles are not allowed on the 912-acre island, making for an experience unlike any other Wisconsin state park. Stone buildings, built by a wealthy inventor and his family, house exhibits. The ferry to the island runs Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day.
