Our Living Ancestors: Hike with author/naturalist John Bates

680 days old

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Activities: Educational Programs, Forestry, Nature study, Outdoor activity, Tree study
Location: Copper Falls SP

Old-growth forests: Where are they, what values do they provide, and why did we cut nearly all of them down? Join guest naturalist/author John Bates on the trail to celebrate these tall, longstanding reminders of the past. Copies of his newest book, Our Living Ancestors: The History and Ecology of Old-growth Forests in Wisconsin (and where to find them) will be on hand after the program. Meet at the park pavilion near the picnic grounds.

Copper Falls SP information

Ancient lava flows, deep gorges, and spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Log buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s add to the park's charm. There is plenty to do; hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming. The North Country National Scenic Trail passes through Copper Falls State Park.
