Special Event: 5 Nights Under Dark Skies

Amateur astronomers and the public are invited to join members of the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society (DPAS) and park staff to spend some time under the darkest skies in Wisconsin. Here's your chance to view planets, nebulae and globular clusters through a variety of telescopes. Viewing area is by Parking Lot 3. Follow path to shelter building. (If overcast evening skies, I/E presentations and/or astronomy videos will be presented). This special event takes place every night from Friday, Aug. 10 through Tuesday, Aug. 14.


Newport SP information

Newport State Park, northeast of Ellison Bay, is Wisconsin's only formally-designated wilderness park. With 2,373 acres and 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, the park offers quiet alternatives to bustling Door County. Explore 30 miles of hiking trails with hike-in campsites. There are evergreen and hardwood forests, wetlands and upland meadows.
